In 2020, John was finishing his medical degree and Daniela was wrapping up marketing. Neither of them had a design background, a portfolio, or a single client. What they had was a lockdown, a laptop, and the kind of stubbornness that doesn’t ask for permission. They started as freelancers, learning 3D rendering, architectural visualization, and interior design entirely from scratch, from an apartment, between study sessions.
The first projects were small. The learning curve was steep. But the work got better fast, and the clients kept coming. What started as a side project became something neither of them could stop building. Studio 5 grew from two freelancers into a fully remote international design studio with a curated network of specialist designers, a structured production process, and clients spanning 30 countries.
John leads strategy and client relationships. Daniela runs design direction and quality control. Every project that leaves Studio 5 has gone through both of them. Seven years later, Studio 5 has delivered over 550 projects across 30 countries, built entirely on remote collaboration, direct client relationships, and a standard of work that doesn’t need a physical address to prove itself.
The People Behind the Renderings
I started this during my medical residency and never looked back. Today I lead Studio 5's strategy, client relationships, and growth, while still practicing medicine. Both fields run on precision and high stakes. Turns out they have more in common than you'd think.
I run the studio's design direction and day to day operations. Every project that leaves Studio 5 has gone through my eye. I care deeply about the gap between what a client imagines and what we actually deliver, and I've spent five years closing it.
